Can you say that you truly love what you do? Many of us creative entrepreneurs got into our careers because we wanted to do what we love for a living. But, as we all soon find out, there are lots of aspects of owning a business that aren’t so fun and make us really question how much we love it.

My guest today knows a thing or two about pursuing what she loves to do, and making sure it’s still something she loves as the years go on. Creative entrepreneurs, especially designers, are often resented for making money and expected to justify our markups. We face specific challenges unique to our industry. That’s why truly loving this career path is crucial if you want to be successful at it.

Today, I am thrilled to share a conversation with my friend and interior designer, Gail Davis, with y’all. Gail is, simply put, a powerhouse. She’s as real and authentic as they come and she also happens to have incredible style. Gail and I are sharing why doing what you love isn’t always fun and how it takes being real and transparent to be a successful designer. We’re discussing why it’s never too late to do what you love and why you don’t need to sugarcoat it.

What You’ll Learn from this Episode:

  • How Gail uprooted everything to start a second career as a designer.
  • Why it’s smart to work for someone else before starting your own design business.
  • Why people have such a big problem with creatives making money.
  • What Gail learned from her family about money.
  • How owning a business isn’t always fun.
  • Why it’s never too late to do what you love and why you shouldn’t sugarcoat it.
