Behind the Schemes

With 2024 almost halfway over, it’s time to give you a peek at what we’ve been working on behind the scenes at RCL Interiors. Today, we’re starting with the kitchen and dining room of our Mallard Lakes Project.

These clients are some of the hardest-working people I’ve ever met, and one of our goals when working on their re-design was to lighten the feel of their home and update the mood of each space. We wanted to respect the classic architecture of this beautiful house while also making it more unique and tailored to our clients.

Here’s a look at the before of their dining room:

These clients had a fabulous architect who helped them design and build this house, but after 15 or 20 years, some elements were dated and needed to be refreshed. They also had a lot of dark and heavy pieces that just weren’t doing this beautiful home justice, and this room is the perfect example.

We began our process with some inspirational photos and a scaled floor plan of the space.

From there, we created a schematic that allows our clients to see the different pieces and design elements we want to incorporate into the space.

To help them visualize everything inside their home, we create a rendering of what the room will look like when we put it all together! This is usually a big ah-ha moment for our clients and what makes their upcoming transformation feel more real.

Of course, now that I’ve shown you what’s coming for this client’s dining room, it’s only fair that I give you the same look inside the transformation coming for their kitchen.

Here is the before (Excuse the Halloween decor. We obviously took these shots last October):

Just like the dining room, it’s not a bad space. However, our clients were ready to see it updated, and here’s a bit of the inspiration to give you an idea of what they had in mind:

Our team took this inspiration and combined it with what we knew would meet our client’s needs and desires for the space, and created this floorplan and schematic:

Honestly, I can’t wait to see this space come together and share the final results with you!

Stay tuned in the coming weeks for more glimpses inside this project and more client home redesigns that have kept us busy this year.
