Tell the truth... How long have you been hoarding artwork you’d love to hang on the wall with no clue on the best way to display it?
Or maybe you’ve been searching for ways to bring more interest and warmth to those forgotten corners of your home, but you keep coming up short.
Well, you’re in luck! With Halloween this week, I thought this was the perfect time to give you my best tricks (and treats) for these dilemmas in another edition of Design Tips from Rachel.

Question 1: How high should I hang the artwork on my wall?
When it comes to displaying art in your home, the general rule of thumb is to hang the center of your photo or painting at eye level or slightly above eye level.
Now, we know not everyone has the exact same eye level. (I, myself, am a bit vertically challenged.) But we recommend aiming for 57 inches from the floor. This height works well above most pieces of furniture, like sofas and console tables. To clarify, the center of the painting would be at 57”, not the bottom or top of the painting.

Of course, this is just a general rule. If you are hanging pieces above your bed, you may need to adjust to accommodate things like a headboard.

Question 2: How can I add more warmth, interest, and personality to the corners of my home?
You've probably noticed my affinity for salon walls in our work. My Art History background (fun fact: this was my minor in college!) gives me a unique qualification when it comes to the intersection of fine art collecting and weaving a story about our clients' lives. Those hours spent in Art History classes have given me a deep appreciation for fine art, as well as for more unconventional original art that speaks to people and gives them joy!
Salon walls are the ultimate maximalist statement for those who crave warmth, interest, and personality in every corner of their homes. We can help your walls speak volumes!
