This month, we’ve been taking you behind the scenes into one of our clients’ homes and showing you room by room the transformation they’ve experienced.

We kicked off the tour with their keeping room, and last week, you got a look inside their stunning new dining room.

Today, it’s all about the primary bedroom!

Before we talk about the transformation, let’s take a quick look at the before:

As you can see, this room wasn’t bad. It just didn’t fully reflect what our clients desired for the space. The window treatments were dark and heavy, the overall color palette felt drab, and the furniture that had accumulated in this space had no real editorial viewpoint.

Our task was to create a haven where this couple could unplug from their incredibly demanding schedules and be swept away into a retreat of luxury and peacefulness.

We started with the color palette. Soft, pale blue envelops the space – walls, trim, and doors were all painted in the same hue to minimize contrast. Since our clients love antiques, we kept their gorgeous armoire and reupholstered her beautiful chairs. I love the combination of that modern fabric on the gilded frames.

In addition to these items, we reupholstered a comfortable yet stylish antique chaise lounge at the foot of the bed. I love including quiet, cozy corners or sitting areas in our clients’ primary bedrooms whenever possible.

If you’re an introvert like me, you already know the importance a Quiet Room plays in helping you recharge your batteries, but I think even extroverts need the occasional escape from it all to feel energized.

There’s nothing like having a spot where you can close the door, curl up, and spend a few hours (if you’re lucky) in solitude without any distractions.

Like all of our projects, this redesign included plenty of places for artwork and other personal touches that brought the space together for our clients. Crisp white bedding with custom embroidery is the perfect invitation to sleep late and stay in pjs all day on a Saturday! The metal bed frame offers a nice juxtaposition to the softness of the color palette, fabrics, and antiques.
